Claire Le Lohé landed with SUNS two years ago
She has been coaching as a Level 2 coach since 2013 with extensive overseas experience with senior men and women. Claire also has qualifications in refereeing, scoring and basketball statistics. She has up to date knowledge on the physical and mental development of players, a clear understanding of the sports science aspect and training with regards to injury prevention and basketball related fitness through the age groups.
Claire looks forward to assisting our established coaches and mentoring less experienced coaches focusing on quality basketball tuition to develop all abilities. She aims to bring players up from grass roots level through the program, find and develop talent to move up into Sherbrooke senior programs, all while maintaining a standard of coaching and basketball as is fitting for this club.
“As a coach, I’m very focused on fundamentals, discipline, defensive effort, accountability and good sportsmanship. Basketball, like many other team sports, can help calibrate a moral compass and ensure young men and women have an opportunity to be self motivated, whilst providing structure and routine that will reach far further than just bouncing a ball around a court.”
“It’s teammate first, self second.”
Claire’s experience is largely at national level overseas as player and coach. She may not appear to “blow her own trumpet’ but rest assured if you jump on court for a scrimmage or shooting session with her you will come away suddenly realising you have just learnt something to value.
Sherbrooke SUNS thanks Chad Burton for his work over the last three years in this role. Chad will be staying on to oversee SUNS senior Big V program while coaching our senior women’s team.
